Vehicle Electrical Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer with experience in vehicle wiring design across automotive, aerospace, or marine platforms. This role is focused on full-lifecycle development of custom harnesses for next-generation vehicles, involving both 3D routing and 2D schematics. The engineer will work hands-on with CAD tools, suppliers, and partner OEMs to deliver production-grade designs and support pre-launch troubleshooting.

Scope:

  • Design and route custom vehicle harnesses using 3D CAD tools within a constantly evolving architecture.
  • Generate 2D layout and harness drawings using tools such as Mentor Graphics Capital.
  • Participate in peer reviews for both 2D and 3D designs in alignment with internal engineering guidelines.
  • Select appropriate components such as terminals, connectors, wires, and coverings.
  • Collaborate with Tier 1 suppliers on quoting, manufacturability reviews, and harness production.
  • Coordinate routing and attachment locations within the overall vehicle packaging environment.
  • Interface with OEM partners to align and inform their vehicle wiring architecture.
  • Provide guidance on troubleshooting and repair of wiring systems.

Required:
  • Proven experience delivering multiple wiring harness designs across vehicle platforms, including support through launch and revision cycles.
  • Proficiency with CATIA V5 or V6 Electrical Workbench for 3D harness modeling.
  • Background in wiring engineering, including wire sizing, voltage drop calculations, and schematic design.
  • Experience contributing to DFMEAs and design validation plans (DVPs).

Pluses:
  • Experience with electrical component libraries and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with the Capital Logic toolset for schematic creation.
  • Knowledge of harness troubleshooting, warranty tracking, or post-production repair.
  • Understanding of wiring manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) considerations.

Ideal Background:
  • Ownership of wiring harness designs from concept through production.
  • Experience working in fast-paced R&D or emerging automotive tech environments.

Estimated Min Rate: $50.00
