Thermal Systems Integration Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Thermal Systems Integration Engineer to drive the development and integration of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) subsystems. In this role, you will ensure HVAC hardware and firmware meet stringent standards for safety, reliability, and user experience.
You'll be working at the forefront of next-generation thermal systems—responsible for managing both cabin climate control and the thermal needs of powertrain components such as batteries and power electronics. This position requires hands-on engineering expertise, from system design to in-vehicle testing, and a passion for solving complex problems across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
Responsibilities
- Lead integration efforts for HVAC subsystems by creating, executing, and documenting comprehensive test plans for hardware and firmware.
- Collaborate across teams—including mechanical, electrical, software, and systems architecture—to ensure a cohesive, high-performance thermal system.
- Define and validate software requirements for HVAC components, functions, and user-facing features.
- Design and implement validation strategies in coordination with dedicated validation teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Build and operate prototype test setups incorporating real and simulated vehicle systems.
- Analyze system behavior through data logs and source code, identify root causes of issues, and drive implementation of effective, lasting solutions.
- Manage prototype system integration for early-stage vehicles, including bring-up, debugging, and engineering validation.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to drive multiple initiatives in parallel.
- Solid foundation in mechanical and electrical engineering principles, with a focus on automotive systems.
- Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical components, embedded controllers, and networked devices.
- Proven troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software layers.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded system development.
- Experience with Python scripting.
- Familiarity with CAN, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocols and relevant diagnostic tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and HARA (Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment).
- Working knowledge of thermal physics and fluid dynamics.
