Our client, a global leader in advanced energy solutions, is hiring a System Engineer to join their Microgrids team. In this role, you’ll design and optimize large-scale energy systems that integrate Battery Energy Storage (BESS), Solar PV, and natural gas generation.

If you’re passionate about clean energy, system design, and driving real-world impact in the renewable space — this is the opportunity to make your mark.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented System Engineer to join our Microgrids team. In this role, you will support the pre-sales and system design process for utility-scale microgrid projects integrating natural gas generators, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Photovoltaic (PV) technologies. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical acumen with effective communication skills to develop system configurations, performance analyses, and compelling technical proposals that support equipment sales and customer success. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sales teams to interpret customer requirements and translate them into optimized technical solutions.
  • Develop comprehensive technical proposals for BESS and PV systems, including architecture design, equipment selection, and performance modeling.
  • Specify medium-voltage (MV) electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
  • Assess grid interconnection requirements and ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., IEEE 1547, UL 1741).
  • Prepare preliminary single-line diagrams (SLDs), layout drawings, and system configurations for large-scale energy projects.
  • Coordinate with R&D teams in Asia to ensure proposed solutions align with product capabilities and roadmap developments.
  • Support RFP/RFQ responses by producing accurate, detailed, and customer-focused technical documentation.
  • Participate in customer meetings and presentations, clearly articulating system capabilities, design rationale, and value propositions.
  • Provide actionable market feedback to internal product teams regarding emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive insights.
  • Conduct system modeling and performance analyses, including grid impact studies and operational behavior assessments.
  • Analyze system degradation and performance metrics to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in utility-scale BESS and/or PV project design or engineering.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer meetings and project support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in customer-facing technical roles.
  • Working knowledge of relevant standards including UL 9540, UL 1741, IEEE 1547, and NFPA 855.
