Studio Engineer – Industrial Design Support
Location: Mountain View, CA
On-site support required Tuesdays & Wednesdays
• WFH optional for remaining weekdays. (Schedule subject to change at the discretion of the host team).

Scope:
The vendor will provide studio engineering expertise in support of industrial design for production programs and exploratory concept development related to:
• Vehicle interiors
• Vehicle exteriors
• Autonomous sensing systems
• Integration of sensor “pods” into vehicle designs
The vendor should offer early-stage engineering input on design concepts before they are shared with broader functional teams. This ensures high-quality standards for work leaving the design studio. Areas of input include:
• Technical feasibility evaluation: packaging, integration, manufacturability, timing, cost, etc.
• Identification of major tradeoffs or feasibility blockers

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
The vendor is expected to collaborate closely with engineering teams, technical program managers (TPMs), & product stakeholders to align on design direction during early & mid-phase development stages (proportion, theme, alpha, beta). Responsibilities include:
• Importing in-progress CAD from engineering & sharing surfacing with designers
• Exporting designer, A-surfaces to engineering for review or release
• Facilitating clear communication of technical constraints and requirements between engineering & design to help guide informed tradeoff decisions

Prototyping & Testing:
The vendor will support prototype creation—both functional and aesthetic—throughout various design development phases. These prototypes will be used for internal reviews, alignment discussions, and technical feasibility validation.

Deliverables:
Studio engineering deliverables will align with key design team milestones. Examples may include:
• Reviewing A-surface release packages prior to hand-off to engineering
• Organizing ongoing working sessions with cross-functional groups to ensure project alignment
• Fabricating mockups or physical models as needed for review
• Clearly articulating design & technical intent via slide presentations
• Producing mechanical concept CAD (Catia) that supports design execution & providing actionable feedback to design contributors
• Publishing & managing A-surface documentation through Enovia along with visual presentation slides
• Recording design criteria that impact the overall design of the vehicle, sensors, or pod integration
