Yoh Life Sciences is hiring for a Sr. Manager/Associate Director of Supply Chain for their biotech startup customer in San Diego.  This role will be critical in ensuring alignment between supply chain strategy and corporate objectives, supporting key functions including demand planning, procurement forecasting, production planning, ERP implementation, logistics, vendor management, and inventory costing.

The ideal candidate will be a systems-oriented thinker with strong analytical capabilities, operational rigor, and cross-functional collaboration experience, particularly in biotech, pharma, or life sciences environments.


Job Title: Senior Manager / Associate Director of Supply Chain (Biotech Startup)
Location:  San Diego
Duration:  Temp to perm or Perm DOE 
Pay: $50-70/hr DOE 

  Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Supply Chain Leadership:  Own the full supply chain lifecycle—from planning and sourcing through production and delivery—ensuring agility, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Forecasting & Demand Planning:  Develop integrated demand forecasts in partnership with Finance, R&D, and Commercial teams to support clinical and commercial growth.
  • Production & Supply Planning:  Translate forecasts into actionable production schedules aligned with inventory targets and capacity constraints.
  • Inventory Strategy & Execution:  Optimize inventory levels to balance availability, cost, and risk while meeting development and manufacturing requirements.
  • Inventory Costing & Financial Management:  Partner with Finance to manage inventory valuation, standard costing, and cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) analysis; support budgeting and financial reporting processes.
  • ERP Implementation & Optimization:  Lead or support the implementation of ERP systems (preferably Fishbowl), ensuring robust configuration and adoption across supply chain workflows.
  • Master Data Governance:  Maintain integrity of supply chain master data (BOMs, SKUs, vendor data, etc.) to enable accurate planning and reporting.
  • Vendor & Contract Manufacturing Management:
    Build and manage strategic relationships with critical suppliers, contract manufacturers, and logistics providers.
    • Must have hands-on experience sourcing and managing vendors for biological reagents, enzymes, and complex electro-mechanical instrumentation.
    • Lead or support design transfer activities to contract manufacturers, ensuring successful scale-up, documentation, and alignment with quality requirements.
    • Ensure supplier performance, quality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness through structured evaluations, scorecards, and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Negotiate contracts and manage supplier lifecycle from onboarding through ongoing performance management.
  • Logistics Oversight:  Ensure reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient inbound and outbound transportation, including international shipments and cold chain (as applicable).
  • Process Improvement & KPIs:  Identify and drive supply chain process improvements using Lean principles or Six Sigma methodologies; monitor performance via metrics and dashboards.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership:  Collaborate closely with Finance (cost modeling, budgeting) and R&D (materials and timelines) to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in supply chain management roles, ideally within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences sector.
  • Proven track record leading ERP system implementations and driving operational efficiencies.
  • Deep understanding of supply planning, procurement, logistics, inventory management, and vendor management.
  • Experience managing suppliers of reagents, enzymes, and complex instrumentation.
  • Experience with inventory costing, standard cost development, and financial reporting in collaboration with Finance.
  • Quality mindset to ensure decisions support product integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and systems thinking abilities; advanced Excel or analytics tools proficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
Preferred/Nice to Have:
  • Experience supporting GMP manufacturing environments, particularly in managing kitting, assembly, labeling, and outbound packaging workflows to ensure readiness for commercial distribution.
  • Familiarity with order-to-cash or fulfillment workflows.
  • Exposure to GxP, ISO, or other regulated quality systems.
  • Familiarity with Fishbowl ERP.
  • APICS/CSCP, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma certification.
