Speech Pathologist
needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh Scientific’s client located in New Brunswick, NJ.
This position is for a major public research university
and the ideal candidate is someone with a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a New Jersey State Speech-Language Pathology license and Speech Language Specialist Standard Certificate. Requires ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or Clinical Fellow (CF).
Responsibilities
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Conducts comprehensive assessments of the language, communication, feeding, and social needs of the students enrolled at the DDDC.
- Analyze and interpret diagnostic data, including standardized and non-standardized tests, observations, and parent/teacher input.
- Develop and implement specific therapeutic interventions (programs).
- Provide direct and indirect therapy services, individual or small groups.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed.
- Participate in IEP meetings and parent conferences.
- Consults, collaborates, and trains parents, teachers, and school district Child Study Teams to insure coordination and consistency of identified goals in the student’s IEP.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or an equivalent education.
- Requires a New Jersey State Speech-Language Pathology license and Speech Language Specialist Standard Certificate.
- Requires ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or Clinical Fellow (CF).
- Preferred, 2 years of experience to include experience with students with autism
- Requires good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
- Selected candidates will be subject to a criminal history background check. In accordance with New Jersey State law, applicants must agree to undergo and authorize the University to conduct fingerprint, criminal history and/or child abuse record checks with various law enforcement agencies, including, but not limited to: the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Identification Division and/or the New Jersey Division of State Police, Bureau of Identification. Applicants must also assume any costs incurred by the University associated with the background investigations, whether required by statute or not.
- In accordance with state mandated requirements, candidates must be able to provide documentation of a negative Mantoux test or will be administered to the successful applicant to verify the absence of tuberculosis. In addition, the successful applicant, at the cost of the University, will be required to be inoculated against Hepatitis B unless the successful applicant waives this vaccination in writing.
- Employees must be physically active and be on foot most of the day. Duties may involve running and playing active games with individuals with autism (ages 3 1/2 – 21 years). Following training must be physically capable of safely providing crisis management techniques including restraining, lifting, blocking individuals with challenging behavior. Individuals in this position must be able to withstand blows to the chest, head, and other areas, and must be able to assist and lift physically restrain individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Assists in providing behavioral programs for students with severe behavior challenges.
- The ability to work in crowded and moderately noisy conditions with children, adolescents, adults, and staff moving about.
