Server Technician
We are seeking a skilled Server Technician to install, maintain, and support physical and virtual server infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of hardware, operating systems, data center environments, and troubleshooting methodologies.
This role is hands-on and involves working closely with IT, network, and support teams to ensure optimal server performance and reliability.

Scope:
• Install, configure, and maintain physical servers, blades, and rack-mounted systems.
• Perform routine hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, and replacements (disks, memory, NICs, etc.).
• Support operating system installs, patching, and configuration (Windows Server, Linux preferred).
• Monitor server health, performance, and capacity using monitoring tools.
• Perform server imaging, backups, and restorations.
• Maintain server documentation including IP allocations, system configurations, and hardware inventory.
• Respond to and resolve incidents and service requests related to server infrastructure.
• Collaborate with network and storage teams for integrated system functionality.
• Ensure all server installations and changes follow change control and compliance procedures.

Required:
• 5+ years of experience in server hardware support and data center operations.
• Comfortability taking leadership on things such as coordinating lab related tasks, projects, and issue response.
• Strong knowledge of server components, cabling, BIOS, RAID, and firmware updates.
• Proficiency with OS installation and configuration (Windows Server, Linux/Unix).
• Understanding of basic networking (IP addressing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP).
• Ability to read and follow rack elevations, cabling diagrams, and asset tracking protocols.
• Experience working in structured cabling and data center environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on ability to diagnose hardware/software issues.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Pluses:
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Experience with server automation tools (PXE boot, SCCM, Ansible).
• Understanding of data center standards (e.g., Uptime Tier, cooling/power planning).
• Certifications: CompTIA Server+, A+, Network+, or vendor-specific (Dell, HP, Cisco UCS).
 

Estimated Min Rate: $40.00
Estimated Max Rate: $50.00
