A clinical-stage biotechnology company headquartered in the Bay Area is looking for a driven and highly skilled Senior Research Associate, Cancer Biology to play a central role in advancing our oncology pipeline. In this position, you will design and execute critical cell-based assays and help build innovative platforms to evaluate proprietary compounds. You will work alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team focused on translating cutting-edge biology into meaningful cancer therapies. Title and level will be aligned with experience.

Compensation: $55 - $70 per hour (based upon experience)
Type: Contract (12 months)

What You’ll Do:
  • Design and independently execute experiments to support drug discovery programs in oncology
  • Develop and optimize robust in vitro, cell-based assays to characterize compound activity and mechanism of action
  • Engineer and validate cell line models to support screening and translational studies
  • Culture and maintain a variety of tumor and non-tumorigenic cell lines using best laboratory practices
  • Perform assays to assess cell viability, protein expression, gene expression, and other key phenotypes
  • Analyze, interpret, and clearly communicate data through presentations and reports
  • Troubleshoot and refine assays to ensure reproducibility and high-quality results
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional scientists to align experimental efforts with project goals
  • Present findings and contribute to team discussions at project and department meetings
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in cancer biology, cellular biology, molecular biology, or related area
  • B.S.5+ years or M.S. 3+ years of oncology research experience in drug discovery in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Strong hands-on expertise in mammalian cell culture and cell-based assay development
  • Experience with gene perturbation techniques such as siRNA, shRNA, CRISPR, and small molecule screening
  • Proficiency in protein and gene expression analysis, including Western blot, MSD, and qRT-PCR
  • Experience with cell viability and proliferation assays such as CellTiter-Glo, IncuCyte, colony formation assays, and related technologies
  • Experience with flow cytometry and immunofluorescence is desired
  • Experience with 3D cell culture models, including spheroid assays, is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to design, optimize, and troubleshoot assays independently
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative mindset, attention to detail, and a passion for translating science into impactful therapies
