Senior Equipment Engineer for a Direct Hire position in Charlotte, NC.
Role Overview:
Responsible for specifying, designing, troubleshooting, and improving proprietary mechanical equipment used in Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) plants. Acts as a technical lead on projects, coordinating design efforts and ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead equipment design and analysis using mechanical engineering principles.
- Coordinate and review work of engineers and designers.
- Develop specifications, review vendor documents, and support procurement.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, commissioning, and plant operations.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to innovation and continuous improvement.
- Travel domestically and internationally for inspections, training, and project support.
- Strong mechanical engineering background with knowledge of ASME codes, materials, welding, and fabrication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Autodesk tools.
- Experience with industrial equipment, especially scrubbers and coolers.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and project coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel (10–30%).
- Simulation tools (FEA, CFD, etc.)
- Experience in piping, stress analysis, and NDE.
- Background in the steel or DRI industry.
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
- 10+ years in industrial or technical environments, preferably in steel or DRI.
