This position of Senior Accountant is a member of Sony Music Publishing’s Corporate Finance team based in NY and dedicated to the consolidation of actual results, financial reporting and other finance-related deliverables.
The position of Senior Accountant calls for strong business awareness, analytical skills, organization, communication, and comprehension of US GAAP and IFRS.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with monthly close, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and management reporting
- Analyze actual results and prepare monthly and quarterly financial statement variance analyses versus Forecast, Budget and Prior Year
- Liaise regularly with international Finance Directors on various accounting, reporting and/or planning matters
- Assist in the preparation of various analytical reports and presentations for use by upper Management
- Strong working knowledge of current US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, IFRS and emerging issues
- Maintain corporate accounting policies and procedures manual
- Assist in the development and maintenance of internal controls over the corporate accounting function
- Assist in complying with requests from third-parties such as independent auditors and internal tax, legal and SOX departments.
- Other one-off projects and assignments
- Two to three years public accounting experience (in auditing) and CPA
- Strong working knowledge of Excel
- Experience with consolidation and financial reporting systems, particularly SAP BPC and/or OneStream is a plus
