Sample Receiving Technician (Columbus, OH) $18.50/hr - 6 month contract

Job Title:  Sample Receiving Technician Pay Rate:  $18.50/hr

Work Schedule Staggered Rotating Shifts:

• Rotating start times:
  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• One late day per week (e.g., Jason: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
• Sunday rotation every three weeks (based on number of employees)
  • Latest shift: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Sunday shifts begin only after proficiency is demonstrated
• Must be available to work overtime

Position Summary Responsible for:

• Sample entry
• Assignment of test codes
• Expedient release of samples to operations for analysis
• Laboratory shipping

Your Profile

• No prior lab experience required  – training provided
• Ideal for candidates with experience in:
  • Manufacturing
  • Production
  • Warehouse
  • Food industry/service
  • Retail
  • Other fast-paced environments
• Must be able to stand for the entire shift
• Education:
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent + 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degrees accepted
• Skills:
  • Basic computer knowledge required for data entry
  • Must learn quickly and meet attendance/shift expectations

Qualifications Required

• Basic computer operation skills for data entry into LIMS
• Helpful: Basic knowledge of microbiology and chemistry
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Effective written and oral communication
• General office skills (faxing, filing, etc.)
• Ability to:
  • Review and verify sample documentation
  • Make decisions on sample adequacy
  • Seek supervisor/client input when needed
  • Work under regular supervision toward specific goals

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Receive and log samples for analysis
• Assign ID numbers and enter data into LIMS
• Contact clients for missing/unclear information
• Store and dispose of samples appropriately
• Prepare packages for shipping and maintain documentation
• Ship samples to other facilities as needed
• Assist with customized client reports (data collection, analysis, reporting)
• May assist lab personnel with sample prep and analysis
• Support corporate quality and continuous improvement
• Identify and document departures from quality/test procedures
• Perform other related duties as needed

Communication

• Regular contact with clients to verify/clarify information
• Frequent interaction with operations and client service teams

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Laboratory setting with controlled temperature and lighting
• Occasional exposure to fumes, chemicals, and materials
• Must lift packages (10–50 lbs)
• Extended standing required
• Physical dexterity for keyboard use
• May require wearing a mask, lab coat, and insulated gloves
