Role summary
We are seeking a senior interoperability professional to lead an initial rapid assessment of the Rhapsody implementation in a live client environment. This resource will be responsible for developing a high-level understanding of the current-state Rhapsody landscape, producing an initial mapping of interfaces and dependencies, and validating that picture through collaborative working sessions with client stakeholders.
This is not a pure build role. The immediate need is for a practitioner who can quickly assess an active environment, synthesize technical and operational inputs, identify key risks and gaps, and help shape the scope and team structure for a longer-term follow-on engagement.
Engagement objective
Deliver a rapid, high-level analysis of the live Rhapsody environment and create an initial current-state view of how Rhapsody is being used across the client's ecosystem. The work should provide enough clarity to support immediate planning, identify areas requiring deeper analysis, and inform the design of the right-sized team for the next phase.
Initial scope of work
The resource will lead a short-duration assessment focused on:
- reviewing the live Rhapsody environment at a high level
- identifying major engines, interfaces, message flows, and dependencies
- understanding upstream and downstream system interactions
- documenting key operational patterns, ownership points, and support considerations
- facilitating collaborative feedback sessions with the client to validate and refine findings
- identifying risks, documentation gaps, bottlenecks, and opportunities for deeper follow-on work helping define the scope and resource profile for the next stage of the engagement
Key deliverables
An initial high-level Rhapsody landscape map that outlines:
- major engines and environments
- key interfaces and message flows
- upstream and downstream systems
- major integration patterns and dependencies
- operational ownership and support touchpoints
- key risks, known gaps, and areas needing additional analysis
- concise findings summary for leadership and client stakeholders
- documented assumptions, unknowns, and validation needs
- prioritized recommendations for deeper assessment or next-step workstreams
- initial recommendation for the right-sized team and capability mix needed for the next phase
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery sessions with client technical and operational stakeholders
- Perform a rapid high-level review of the production Rhapsody landscape
- Synthesize fragmented documentation, stakeholder input, and environment observations into a coherent current-state picture
- Create an initial mapping of the Rhapsody environment and related interface ecosystem
- Facilitate collaborative review and feedback sessions to validate and refine the mapping
- Identify material risks, dependencies, support concerns, and maturity gaps
- Distinguish between confirmed facts, working assumptions, and areas requiring deeper validation
- Translate technical observations into clear business and delivery implications
- Support definition of a follow-on engagement scope and recommended team composition
Required qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Rhapsody in healthcare environments
- Deep understanding of healthcare interoperability standards including HL7 and FHIR, with DICOM strongly preferred
- Experience working with production or live integration environments
- Experience assessing, architecting, or stabilizing interface and interoperability ecosystems
- Familiarity with healthcare systems such as EHR/EMR, RIS, PACS, scheduling, and related operational platforms
- Ability to analyze interface patterns, message flows, and integration dependencies at a high level without losing practical detail
- Experience leading discovery, assessment, or advisory engagements
- Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level synthesis
- Preferred qualifications
- Experience in diagnostic imaging, radiology, or provider network settings
- Experience with both legacy integration patterns and modern API-based interoperability approaches
- Familiarity with cloud-hosted healthcare platforms and contemporary engineering environments
- Experience helping define team structures, workstreams, and implementation roadmaps following an assessment
- Consulting or advisory experience in ambiguous, lightly documented client environments
- Ideal candidate profile
- The ideal candidate is a senior, pragmatic interoperability leader who combines technical credibility with strong client-facing assessment skills. They are comfortable entering a partially documented live environment, rapidly developing a working understanding of how it operates, and creating useful structure without overcomplicating the first phase.
- They should be able to engage confidently with engineers, integration teams, operations stakeholders, and leadership, while maintaining a clear distinction between what is known, what is inferred, and what requires further validation.
