Research Scientist, Antibody Sequence Analysis
Computational Antigen Design
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Sequence Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of antibody germline genes and lineages using advanced bioinformatics tools and software.
  • Data Interpretation: Interpret complex data sets to identify patterns and insights related to antibody germline genes and lineage identification.
  • Data Visualization: Conduct data visualizations on large, complex data sets related to antibody sequences and sequence patterns, germline usage, and phylogenetic tree building.
  • Experimental Design: Design and execute experiments to validate findings and support antibody discovery projects.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including immunologists, molecular biologists, and bioinformaticians to advance research goals.
  • Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate research findings to stakeholders.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update databases with sequence information, germline gene data, and experimental results.
  • Literature Review: Stay updated with the latest scientific literature and advancements in antibody germline gene and lineage research. Maintain detailed records and communicate progress and challenges, as necessary.
  • Documentation: Perform timely electronic laboratory notebook entries, review and submission for completed experiments.
 
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in antibody germline gene and lineage analysis or related research.

Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies :
  • Proficiency in bioinformatics tools (e.g., IgBLAST, IMGT/V-QUEST, Cell Ranger, Immcantation), programming languages (e.g., Python, R), and data analysis software.
  • Previous experience antibody database tools (e.g. GDB) with pipeline workflow management system (e.g. Nextflow or Snakemake), and cloud environment would be strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in experimental design and data analysis.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies in a rapidly evolving field.
  • A track record of published research in peer-reviewed journals is preferred.
