QC Microbiology Associate I

We have a contract opportunity for a QC Microbiologist Associate I in Durham North Carolina. This position is approved for 1 year with potential of being hired directly by the client. 

Pay Rate:$25.00/Hr.

Position Summary:
Responsible for performing microbiological testing in a fast-paced, FDA-regulated environment within the Medical Devices/Diagnostics industry. Key duties include testing finished products, stability samples, and special requests, as well as supporting continuous improvement and compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: Microbiological Testing & Lab Operations

• Conduct microbiological tests on product samples per SOPs.
• Prepare and handle microbial cultures using aseptic techniques.
• Perform Growth Performance, Antimicrobial Neutralization, and Contamination Checks.

Quality & Compliance

• Document test results accurately and in compliance with GDP, GLP, GMP, and HSE standards.
• Review testing documentation and ensure timely completion.
• Support regulatory, customer, and internal audits by maintaining lab readiness (e.g., logbooks, calibration records, cleanliness).
• Contribute to investigations and document invalid results per procedures.

Data Management & Training

• Enter data into LIMS and paper-based systems; assist with LIMS maintenance and validation.
• Maintain current training on departmental procedures.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

• Use appropriate PPE for routine and non-routine tasks.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a clean, organized lab environment (6S compliance).

Qualifications: Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or related life science.
• In lieu of a degree:
• High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant experience in a regulated environment (GMP preferred), or
• Associate’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.

Experience:

• (Bachelor's with no experience required and some prior microbiological lab experience a plus.
• Experience with sterile technique is a plus.
• Knowledge of lab techniques, quality principles, and data analysis.
