Title: Principal Ride Technician
Compensation: $52-57/hour
Type: 3-Month Contract

Position Overview:
This role sits within a highly innovative design and engineering organization responsible for creating immersive attractions, complex mechanical systems, and experiential environments for global audiences. The team blends creativity, engineering, fabrication, and technology to deliver first-of-their-kind experiences.

The Principal Ride Technician plays a critical role within the Ride Development Engineering team, supporting the fabrication and testing of ride vehicle mockups, seat prototypes, and restraint systems—from early concept through final production approval.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering and creative teams to support fabrication, prototyping, testing, and assembly activities
- Construct wood vehicle mockups, seat bucks, and mechanical prototypes
- Support mechanical mockups and testing through all phases up to first article production approval
- Operate and support advanced testing systems, including 6-axis motion bases, robotic systems (e.g., KUKA), and cycle testing fixtures
- Work with linear actuators, pneumatics, and mechanical assemblies
- Interpret conceptual designs, CAD models, and sketches to determine fabrication approaches
- Perform a wide range of shop duties, from basic fabrication to advanced machining and assembly
- Interact with stakeholders across all levels, including technical staff and leadership
- Supervise and guide shop personnel as needed
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or prototype development
- Strong knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, tooling, and equipment selection
- Experience programming CNC routers
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (including creation of shop drawings)
- Advanced mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and translate concepts into physical builds
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and evolving designs
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to lead or supervise team members
- Experience in themed entertainment, attractions, or complex mechanical systems
- Strong proficiency reading and modifying SolidWorks and AutoCAD drawings
- Familiarity with KUKA robotics and 6-DOF motion platforms
- Advanced woodworking skills (table saw, panel saw, routers, etc.)
- Experience with conventional machining (vertical mill, lathe)
- Hands-on experience with fabrication equipment (press brake, shear, roll, metal saws)
- Welding experience (GMAW and GTAW), including machine setup and parameter tuning
- Strong mechanical assembly background
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Forklift, scissor lift, and rigging experience is a plus
- Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional team environments
