Top Skills You Should Possess:
- Active/unrestricted Registered Nurse license in state of California
- At least one year of experience in a Pediatric setting
- Two plus years of experience as an Advice Nurse
- Experience working in a high volume clinic
- Professional, knowledgeable, friendly, outgoing, etc.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Function as a primary liaison between patient and physician, via phone
- Implement the entire nursing process to include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for an assigned group of patients and provide quality patient care that is efficient, effective and evidence based
- Counseling, health education, and training programs
- Provide general education and nursing care to patients via telephone
- Triage and schedule patients as appropriate, ensuring appointment preferences are given to patients in emergency situations
- Document clinical information, including patient phone calls, and maintain accurate and complete patient documentation according to medical profession standards; accurately document all patient encounter, phone triage, test results and office visits
- Coordinate and integrate services within the clinic by continually collaborating with physician(s)
- Communicate the appropriate referral choice to community physicians
- Respond to and resolve patient/family questions and needs
- Assist with procedures and some injections
- Medication inventory checks
What You Need to Bring to the Table
- Ability to connect with the patient/parent and provide accurate advice/triage while still connecting on a more personable level (easing worries/fears)
- Must be comfortable working autonomously
- Prior experience using MS Office products and EMR (Epic experience a big plus!)
- Confident primarily working as a Telephonic Advice Nurse while stepping in with clinical responsibilities, as-needed
