PCB Design Engineer – Autonomous Vehicle Systems
Looking for an experienced PCB Design Engineer to support the development of next-gen electronic systems for autonomous vehicle platforms. You will be responsible for end-to-end printed circuit board design using Altium Designer, supporting high-performance, safety-critical hardware used in sensor modules, compute platforms, power distribution, and control systems. You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to bring complex, multi-layer PCBs from concept through production.
Scope:
• Lead the schematic capture, layout, and documentation of multi-layer PCB designs using Altium Designer.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate high-speed, power, and mixed-signal designs into manufacturable layouts.
• Optimize board layouts for signal integrity, EMI/EMC, thermal performance, and manufacturability.
• Review and create documentation including Gerber files, fabrication drawings, assembly notes, and BOMs.
• Perform design rule checks (DRC) and electrical rule checks (ERC) to ensure quality and compliance.
• Interface with contract manufacturers and PCB fabrication houses for prototyping and production builds.
• Support design reviews, validation efforts, and bring-up of first articles.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, test, and embedded teams to ensure cohesive product development.
Required:
• 5+ years of professional experience in PCB layout and design.
• Expert-level proficiency with Altium Designer.
• Strong understanding of high-speed design principles, grounding strategies, impedance control, and PCB stack-up optimization.
• Experience with DFM/DFT and collaborating with external manufacturers.
• Solid understanding of digital, analog, and mixed-signal design requirements.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for automotive or embedded electronics.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environment.
Pluses:
• Experience with automotive-grade electronics (ISO 26262, AEC-Q standards).
• Exposure to flex and rigid-flex PCB designs.
• Familiarity with version control systems and PLM tools.
• Experience designing for EMC/EMI compliance testing.
Estimated Min Rate: $60.00
Estimated Max Rate: $70.00
