Job Title: Natural Science & Outdoor Education Facilitator

General Overview:
At an entry level, this position facilitates outdoor recreation and natural science education programs designed to promote meaningful stewardship, including water quality and natural resource protection. The role includes assisting in program development, ensuring participant safety, and delivering engaging educational experiences. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic about astronomy, constellations, planets, and outer space, and are available to work evenings, nights, and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and deliver outdoor recreation and natural science programs.
• Assist in developing and updating program content and materials.
• Prepare, organize, and clean activity sites; maintain program equipment and facilities.
• Conduct pre-program orientations and implement safety protocols.
• Respond to participant questions, comments, and concerns.
• Support special events that promote natural science education.
• Inspect, clean, and store equipment; perform minor repairs and maintenance.
• Secure supplies and equipment for assigned programs.
• Drive as needed to support program delivery.
• Follow all job-related instructions and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Four (4) years of related experience.
• A degree in natural science, education, recreation, or a relevant field may substitute for experience per company guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities for children.
• Familiarity with natural science and water-based recreation programs.
• Understanding of animal behavior and habitat.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
• Experience handling and presenting reptiles and amphibians safely.
• Proficiency in office productivity software (email, word processing, spreadsheets).
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to motivate and engage children and adults.

Work Environment:

• Primarily outdoors or in classroom settings; some office work required.
• May involve traversing rugged terrain and working in extreme weather conditions.
• Exposure to natural hazards (e.g., insects, wildlife).
• Use of protective equipment required.
• May involve working at heights (up to 60 feet) or on water-based activities.
• Non-standard hours including weekends and holidays.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, crouching, and crawling.
• Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs frequently; up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Occasional overhead lifting and use of hand tools and equipment.
• Keyboard and mouse use as needed.
