Manager of Product Development

Yoh is hiring a Product Development Manager  for our El Segundo, CA client. In this role you will be responsible for all degrees of arranging and improvement correspondence for personal care oversight from Head of R&D. Oversee the development and execution of personal care items to support brand launches and innovation. Manager will work with internal and external partners to identify new product concepts, Innovation, track projects, manage timelines, and ensure product launches are on time, on budget, and, most importantly, effective for customers. The ideal candidate has a technical personal care PD background with the strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead tactical execution.

Job Functions
Upfront Development Phase
• Responsible for initial set-up and maintenance of all product information in company system (Monday.com and google drive, etc) example briefs, standards, price range, timeline etc)
• Plans and leads kick-off meetings, clarifying individual roles and responsibilities and defining expectations and success factors for the team.
• Acts as the subject matter expert for product development process, project governance, development plans, critical path, decision trees and project financials.
• Work closely with Customer to align product data and timelines.
• Manage multiple project development milestones and final project timelines in tandem with cross functional teams.
• Provide clear directions to labs on new briefs and redirects.
• Partner with R&D, Business development to develop compelling and accurate product storytelling for new innovation, product briefs, etc.
• Manage and lead all communication as it relates to product briefs, product profile, and market data.
• Setup and maintain all Product Development folders and files, including product development trackers, vendor directory, product library, testing, etc.
• Responsible for moving products through open project workflow in teams’ systems and follow ups assignments associated with existing and new product formulation
• Coordinate receipt of product samples and perform organoleptic review for new product concepts/benchmark.
• Identify operational obstacles or bottlenecks as they arise and propose solutions to R&D head.
• Contribute to innovation, troubleshooting and brainstorming ideas for future platforms growth in key consumer needs state areas.
• Organize a library of all product information and manage iteration to maintain current and up to date information as changes occur.
• Work with sales to review pricing updates.

• • Work with regulatory to ensure all needed documentation are in product folders to supply to customers ( IL, pricing, RM documentation, regulatory reviews, sample submission, testing results, stability results, SDS, COA, etc)
  • Ensures adherence to all governance processes, deliverables and escalations
  • Manage testing schedule TAF with customer
  • Create marketing sheets for innovation
  • Provides decision analysis expertise and tools to the teams for strategic planning and operational execution.
  • Develop marketing briefs for innovation
  • Present innovation to strategic customers  
  • Coordinate all testing and manage testing budget
  • Partner with internal teams and external third-party vendors to ensure timeline and delivery
  • Work closely with cross functional teams(business dev, sales , sourcing, regulatory, quality and packaging to provide feedback and access new technology
  • Maintain a strong understanding of north American cosmetic /beauty business
  • Help Promote to get new business partners/innovation projects

After formula approval

• Manages the project and associate cross-functional plans to drive execution in collaboration with R&D, Operations & Commercial and ensures alignment with the Commercial Strategy.
  • Oversee each project from approval through fist production • Oversee each project from development through fist production
  • Assist with developing SOPs to streamline and improve process efficiencies.
  • Ensures milestones, goals, and budget are achieved and risk is effectively managed.
  • Communicates milestones and delivers status to leadership. Including mitigation strategy and compression opportunities.
  • Manage and lead all communication as it relates to formula evaluation, copy, testing, claims and market data
  • Maintains all systems and tools necessary to appropriately track initiatives as well as pipeline status
  • Review development briefs with R&D/sales/customer
  • Route all samples and tracking to clients for feedback and approval
  • Work with regulatory to compile the final ingredients list for artwork and initiate testing.
  • Work with quality to confirm fill weight and compliance with assembly instructions.
  • Work with Artwork department to meet artwork deadlines.
  • Work with sales to finalize complete pricing for each project.

 


Skills, Experience & Education Required
• Minimum 5 years of demonstrable results in new product development, project launches and timeline management in a beauty-related industry, preferable on the brand side
• Experience working in a fast-paced, start-up environment with the ability to wear multiple hats
• Technologically savvy and adaptable to learning new platforms for timelines, archival processes and internal communications
• Self-starter, motivates and resourceful in finding solutions with minimal oversight
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and able to shift priorities when needed
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills
