Linux System Software Engineer
Client is seeking a Linux System Software Engineer to develop and maintain system-level software for networked and IoT-style devices supporting large-scale wireless broadband infrastructure. This role focuses on Linux-based system software, networking, telemetry, and integration with cloud-based backend systems.

Scope:
• Design, develop, and maintain system-level software for Linux-based network and IoT devices.
• Implement multi-threaded, state-machine, and event-driven software components.
• Develop telemetry, monitoring, and diagnostics using service-provider standards.
• Integrate device software with cloud or backend systems for monitoring and control.
• Support troubleshooting and issue resolution for large-scale field deployments.
• Develop unit, integration, and regression tests for system software components.

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience developing system-level software on Linux-based operating systems.
• Strong programming experience in Golang, Python, and C/C++.
• Experience with multi-threaded programming, state machines, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience implementing network telemetry and monitoring protocols such as gRPC, OpenTelemetry, SNMP, or similar.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience supporting or troubleshooting networked or distributed systems.
• Ability to work on-site in the Sunnyvale area at least 3 days per week.

Pluses:
• Experience working in Google environments, including familiarity with Google development workflows and tooling such as Bazel.
• Experience with low-level hardware and software integration.
• Experience integrating device software with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or similar).
• Background in telecommunications, ISP, networking, or large-scale infrastructure systems.
• Experience with security protocols relevant to networked or embedded systems.
 

Estimated Min Rate: $160000.00
Estimated Max Rate: $210000.00 , plus bonus and equity. (Potentially flexible, depends on work experience).
