Lab Technician

Lab Technician needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh Scientific’s client located in Philadelphia, PA.

This position is for a major pharmaceutical company and requires an associate’s in science or in a life science field (Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry) AND a minimum of 1-2 years of real life experience in a laboratory setting OR BS/BA in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field, with a preferably with some real lab experience.

Shift: Flexible day shift (4x10, 5x8, or Monday to Thursday 9hrs w/ Friday 4hrs).


Key Responsibilities
The Laboratory Support Tech’s primary responsibility will be to support Bioscience laboratory operations. Lab Tech will be supporting laboratory functions including but not limited to, setting up and organizing the laboratory, working with glassware, cleaning, autoclave, lab equipment maintenance, balance checks, and restocking.

Main Accountabilities:

• Provide generalize support to the scientists.
• Organize, replenish, restock and set up lab as necessary.
• Glassware/washing and working with autoclave.
• Basic laboratory equipment maintenance
• Prepare media as directed
• Follow all SOPs

Qualifications

• Associate’s in science or in a life science field (Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry) AND a minimum of 1-2 years of real life experience in a laboratory setting OR BS/BA in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field, with a preferably with some real lab experience.
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures
• Experience working in a regulated environment
• Experience working with complex medical instrumentation and disposables

Physical Requirements

• Performs all job functions and responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner.
• Ability to regularly climb stairs, stoop, bend, and stand entire shift if necessary to perform work.
• May be exposed to and require the handling of chemicals, antibiotics and/or hazardous materials.
• May be exposed to strong odors incurred during media production or other operations.
• Job Duties are performed wearing various types of PPE and cGMP which include but are not limited to a hairnet, beard cover, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, PAPR, face mask and lab coat. Make-up and jewelry are prohibited in certain areas.
• Ability to maintain reliable and punctual attendance.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs regularly per shift.
