Summary:
The Laboratory Support Staff plays a key role in supporting research and development activities. After completing training, responsibilities will include managing laboratory inventory, maintaining equipment and workspaces, and assisting with molecular and microbiological experiments. Typical tasks include nucleic acid extraction, serial dilutions, and PCR setup, as well as accurate documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks. This role involves working in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) environment, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and sterile techniques to handle potentially pathogenic organisms, patient samples, and other body fluids safely. The technicians must follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs), study-specific protocols, and all regulatory and safety requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain and inventory project-specific laboratory supplies.
- Participate in weekly cleaning and maintenance activities to ensure a safe and organized lab environment.
- Follow detailed instructions to execute molecular and microbiological experiments and procedures.
- Work in a BSL-2 environment using PPE and sterile techniques for contamination and infection control.
- Handle PCR workflows while preventing nucleic acid contamination.
- Accurately record experimental details in electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in compliance with SOPs, quality, and safety guidelines.
- Communicate progress and issues to the supervisor regularly.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ensure work complies with corporate policies and the Quality Management System.
- Required: High School Diploma or GED with 1–2 years of laboratory experience.
- Preferred: Associate degree with coursework in biology.
