Work Days: Monday–Friday
Work Hours: 08:00–5:00 pm

General Overview At an entry level, this position performs courier, warehouse shipping and receiving, glassware, and sample disposal duties. The role develops competence by performing structured work assignments and receives instruction, guidance, and direction from a supervisor, manager, and experienced colleagues.
Essential Duties: ● May perform glassware cleaning, sample checks, and basic data entry (transcription).
● Maintains sample storage areas and retrieves samples as needed.
● Disposes of expired samples according to proper SOPs and regulatory requirements in a timely manner.
● Provides general lab assistance to laboratory staff.
● Completes all initial and annual training for assigned laboratory duties and ensures all training records are documented and submitted to the supervisor.
● Complies with the Environmental Laboratory Services safety program, chemical hygiene plan, quality assurance program, SOPs, and applicable regulatory mandates, standards, policies, and codes.

Minimum Qualifications ● High School Diploma or equivalent GED
● Driver's license
Preferred Qualifications ● Prior laboratory support experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ● Knowledge of hazardous waste materials
● Knowledge of laboratory safety and environmental policies, practices, and procedures
● Skill in verbal and written communication
● Skill in organization
● Skill in customer service
● Skill in monitoring and maintaining bottle inventory and labels
● Skill in communicating effectively with team members and supervision
● Skill in relaying customer requests to staff
● Skill in meeting deadlines
● Basic skill level in office productivity applications (email, word processing, spreadsheets)
● Basic skill level in the Laboratory Information Management System for data entry and extraction
● Ability to work in a team environment
● Ability to remain alert and maintain safety awareness
● Ability to comply with Environmental Laboratory Services safety program, chemical hygiene plan, quality assurance program, SOPs, and applicable regulations
Work Environment ● Primarily spent in a laboratory environment
● Some work occurs in a vehicle or at customer locations
● Work may involve weekends, holidays, and non‑standard hours
● Exposure to noise
● Use of protective equipment
● Handling and inspecting equipment containing hazardous chemicals and wastes
● Exposure to high‑speed rotating machinery
● Working around areas with pressurized gas and chemicals with potential for explosion and fire
Physical Demands ● Constant standing and walking at lab counters and sinks
● Frequent finger and hand manipulation using a keyboard and mouse
● Frequent hand manipulation prepping lab glassware, pipetting preservatives, and disposing of samples
● Frequent lifting and carrying up to 80 lbs (sample containers, waste drums, bottle racks, ice chests, supply boxes)
● Frequent pushing or pulling up to 150 lbs (lab carts)
● Frequent lifting up to 80 lbs from floor to waist
● Occasional hand manipulation using hand tools and equipment
● Climbing, crawling, crouching, and similar positions during bottle orders, sample disposal, maintaining sample storage, sample receiving, and field activities (less than 20% of the time)
● Work at chest level or higher, including overhead tasks holding up to 20 lbs (less than 20% of the time)
● Climbing ladders (less than 20% of the time)
