IT Access Control / Tier 1 Support Technician (Onsite)

Yoh has an exciting, contract-to-hire opportunity for an IT Access Control Technician to support a leading defense technology organization in its San Diego operations. The technician will play a key role in supporting both IT and physical access control operations, including badge management, system troubleshooting, and Tier 1 IT support. The ideal candidate brings a strong customer service orientation, attention to detail, and hands-on technical experience in access control and IT support environments. This position requires the ability to start working in early December and work  onsite five days per week.

Location: San Diego, CA (Onsite – 5 Days/Week)
Type: Contract-to-Hire  
Compensation:$25-35/hr (flexible, depending on experience)

Citizenship Requirement:  Due to the nature of this client's environment and requirements, candidates must be U.S. Citizens (ITAR/CUI restrictions)

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain electronic access control and badging systems, ensuring consistent, secure operations.
• Produce, issue, and deactivate employee, contractor, and visitor badges according to established policies.
• Troubleshoot badge printers, card readers, and access control devices; coordinate with vendors or facilities as needed.
• Process user access requests and approvals via IT service workflows and ticketing systems.
• Partner with Security, Facilities, and HR to ensure proper access setup during onboarding and offboarding.
• Conduct routine audits of permissions and logs to maintain compliance and data integrity.
• Provide Tier 1 IT support for hardware, software, and account-related issues.
• Assist with device setup, IT asset management, and inventory tracking.
• Support infrastructure and facility integration projects, including new site security implementations.
• Maintain clear documentation of system configurations and standard operating procedures.

Mandatory Qualifications:  

• Approximately 2 years of experience in IT support, access control, or facilities operations (flexible based on capability and fit).
• Experience with or knowledge of 3xLogic, HID, Openpath, or similar access control systems.
• Familiarity with basic networking concepts and common operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
• Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Detail-focused, reliable, and able to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting hybrid IT and physical security environments.
• Familiarity with ITSM tools(e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) or MDM platforms(e.g., Intune, Jamf).
• Understanding of identity and access management principles.
• Awareness of SOC 2, NIST, or ISO 27001 compliance frameworks.
• Technical degree or certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+.

Estimated Min Rate: $24.50
Estimated Max Rate: $35.00
