Position Summary:

The HR Manager is responsible for administering key human resources functions, with primary accountability for benefits, multi-state payroll, compensation, and training. This role works closely with the VP of Human Resources and leadership to support a compliant, efficient, and employee-centered workplace by ensuring HR programs, processes, and day-to-day activities are carried out accurately and effectively. The ideal candidate brings strong operational HR experience, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.

Key Responsibilities HR Operations:
  • Process payroll to ensure timely and accurate payroll administration, deductions, reconciliations, and compliance with applicable laws and internal controls.
  • Serve as a resource to employees and managers on HR policies, benefits, payroll, compensation, and workplace practices.
  • Prepare HR reports, audits, and analysis related to benefits, payroll, compensation, training, and other workforce metrics.
  • Manage HR systems and data to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and timely reporting.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, open enrollment coordination, vendor communication, and employee education.
  • Administer retirement plans, including 401(a), 403(b), and 457(b), by processing transactions, coordinating with vendors, and responding to employee questions.
  • Serve as the Local Plan Administrator by maintaining plan records, coordinating required actions, and supporting retirement plan administration activities.
Compensation and Data Insights Management:
  • Support compensation administration, including salary reviews, market pricing, job evaluations, pay changes, incentive administration, and maintenance of compensation data.
  • Tracks HR metrics and analyzes trends in compensation, turnover, and engagement to guide strategic decisions.
  • Supports VP of HR in the preparation of compensation-related materials, data, and supporting analysis for Executive Leadership and Compensation Committee meetings.
  • Support performance management activities, employee relations matters, and workplace investigations as needed, including documentation, follow-up, and coordination.
  • Assist with HR-related budget preparation by compiling data, tracking costs, and supporting the annual budgeting process.
Compliance
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, records, and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements.
  • Support compliance activities, including required notices, filings, audits, and response to regulatory changes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Prepare and provide HR data and documentation for Form 990, workers’ compensation audits, and other regulatory or audit requests.
Talent Management & Culture:
  • Coordinate full-cycle recruiting and onboarding activities, including posting jobs, scheduling interviews, preparing offer and onboarding materials, and supporting new hire setup.
  • Administer day-to-day talent management activities, including performance review administration, tracking development plans, supporting talent review meetings, and maintaining related documentation.
  • Work closely with managers to address day-to-day employee matters, reinforce workplace expectations, and support a positive and productive work environment.
  • Coordinate and support employee engagement, recognition, and retention activities, including communications, event planning, feedback collection, and follow-up actions.
  • Provide practical support to managers on employee development, team issues, and routine workplace concerns, and help ensure consistent follow-through on action items.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive human resources experience, including direct experience in benefits, payroll, compensation, and training and development.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, multi-state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience administering HRIS, payroll, and benefits systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Judgment: Uses sound decision-making and escalates issues appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is preferred.
  • Experience supporting benefits renewals, compensation planning cycles, and learning and development programs.
  • Experience in an organization with complex multi-state payroll, benefit, and compliance requirements.

Estimated Min Rate: $84000.00
Estimated Max Rate: $120000.00
