Pay Rate:$22.00/hour firm
Driving Requirement: Valid Driver's License Required (Non-CDL) and acceptable driving history

Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for operating and maintaining buildings, facilities, and grounds across multiple campuses. This role performs work in accordance with established safety procedures while providing professional customer service to building tenants. The technician assists skilled trades personnel and contractors and receives guidance and direction from supervisors and experienced team members.
The ideal candidate will have experience in building operations and maintenance and a willingness to learn a variety of facility systems and maintenance functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the operation of building control systems, including HVAC, lighting, electrical, fire alarm, and related systems.
- Support building efficiency and conservation initiatives through proper operation and maintenance practices.
- Assist with plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and electrical maintenance work.
- Perform maintenance and repairs of irrigation systems, grounds, and water features.
- Assist with repairs and maintenance of building systems and equipment using various testing meters, hand tools, and power tools.
- Provide maintenance and repair services at off-site locations as needed.
- Support workforce planning, scheduling, and dispatch activities.
- Document system changes, repairs, and maintenance activities using logs, reports, files, and work records.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding work status and completed tasks.
- Travel independently or as part of a small crew to various facilities as scheduled.
- Follow all company safety procedures and guidelines.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
- Zero or more years of experience in building operations and maintenance.
- Degree in Facilities Management, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, HVAC, or a related field may substitute for certain experience requirements in accordance with company guidelines.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to travel to multiple facilities as needed.
Technical Knowledge
- Facility safety codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Building control systems, including HVAC and lighting controls.
- General carpentry practices and repair techniques.
- Plumbing systems, materials, and maintenance procedures.
- Single-phase and three-phase electrical systems and components.
- Door hardware installation and replacement, including mechanical and electrical components.
- Security systems and related equipment.
- Fire suppression and fire alarm systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, management, and external partners.
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, instructions, and product specifications.
- Basic ability to read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Customer service orientation.
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Technical documentation and recordkeeping.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications, including email, word processing, and spreadsheets.
- Safe use of cleaning products, pest control products, and maintenance-related materials.
- Safe and effective use of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to operate equipment such as skid steers, trenchers, lifts, mowers, and utility carts.
- Work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Balance multiple priorities and changing work demands.
- Maintain professionalism under normal and emergency situations.
- Work is performed in facilities, plants, and outdoor environments.
- Exposure to noise levels up to 85 decibels; hearing protection may be required.
- Exposure to varying and potentially extreme weather conditions.
- Travel and overnight stays may be required.
- Participation in emergency call-out assignments as needed.
- Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Exposure to electrical systems and equipment.
- Occasional weekend, holiday, and non-standard work schedules.
- Exposure to natural hazards such as insects, snakes, and other wildlife.
- Must be able to respond to facility-related emergencies by phone, text, or in person within 60 minutes.
- Frequent hand and finger dexterity required for tool operation and computer use.
- Frequent standing and walking throughout the workday.
- Occasional climbing, crawling, crouching, and working in non-traditional positions.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 80 pounds.
- Occasional ladder climbing (less than 20% of work time).
- Occasional confined space entry (less than 20% of work time).
- Experience in building operations and maintenance.
- Familiarity with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general facilities maintenance.
- Strong customer service skills and attention to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team across multiple facilities.
