About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on EV Charging Systems Hardware Engineer (FAE) to serve as a key technical liaison between customers, internal engineering teams, and commercial stakeholders. This role supports the successful deployment and adoption of DC fast charging solutions by providing end-to-end technical expertise across pre-sales, implementation, and post-deployment support.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary hardware technical expert supporting DC EV charging systems across pre-sales and post-sales engagements
- Deliver technical presentations, system architecture guidance, and solution recommendations to customers
- Support installation, commissioning, validation, and successful deployment of EV charging equipment
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, power electronics, and system-level issues in field environments
- Analyze system logs, schematics, and test data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product management, sales, and service teams to resolve escalations and improve product performance
- Gather customer requirements and provide actionable feedback to engineering for continuous product improvement
- Support pilot programs, field trials, and customer acceptance testing initiatives
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including application notes, troubleshooting guides, and statements of work
- Travel to customer sites as needed (approximately 30–50%)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
- 2+ years of experience in hardware engineering, field applications engineering, or similar technical role
- Strong knowledge of power electronics, including:
- AC/DC power conversion
- DC fast charging architectures
- Electrical protection, grounding, and isolation principles
- Experience working with EV charging systems, preferably DC fast chargers
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, block diagrams, and single-line electrical diagrams
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with:
- Power modules, contactors, and relays
- Sensors (current, voltage, temperature)
- Thermal management systems (air and liquid cooling)
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, RS-485, Ethernet, PLC, and Modbus
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Willingness to travel and provide onsite customer support
- Experience with EV charging standards such as CCS, CHAdeMO, and NACS
- Knowledge of industry standards including IEC 61851, IEC 62196, and DC fast charging protocols (61851-23/24)
- Familiarity with OCPP (1.6 / 2.0.1) and backend charging network integrations
- Experience with regulatory compliance and metrology standards (e.g., CTEP/NTEP)
- Exposure to CSMS platforms and charging infrastructure ecosystems
- Prior experience in field support, manufacturing, or customer-facing engineering roles
- Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin and English is a plus for global collaboration
