Sr. Research Associate
Primary Duties : (CriC/New projects) The Yoh resource is expected to apply expertise across several practical skills areas in support of the Client’s Vaccines R&D Global Immunology function, including immuno-serology, cell-based assays and cell line and primary cell culture. The role is a lab-based research scientist who will be participating in various teams to support preclinical and early clinical evaluation of vaccine candidates against various respiratory viruses. Knowledge of immunoassay-based instruments, including multi-mode plate readers, liquid handling semi-automated and automated equipment, plate washers and flow cytometer will be required. Individual will be performing laboratory work including development and implementation of immunoassays; recording data in specified formats and/or recording detailed day-to-day work in electronic notebook; reagent preparation; lab housekeeping and maintenance.  There will be requirement to work with animal and human blood, serum, plasma and other samples sources.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in design, planning, optimization and execution of studies to test immunogenicity, efficacy, and safety of various vaccine candidates.
• With supervisor oversight, design, perform, and analyze experiments that comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Support optimization of the immune assay protocols and testing of the samples in semi-automated and automated formats as needed.
• Contribute to development and optimization and implementation of assays for analysis of immune responses to vaccine candidates.
• Upon appropriate training perform technical procedures and operate a variety of lab instrumentation platforms related to Immunology.
• Upon training generate, analyze, visualize, and interpret scientific data sets, record experimental procedures and raw and analyzed data in electronic laboratory notebook.
• Manage pre-clinical reagent and sample inventories and coordinate/manage shipments to and from internal and external sites.
• With appropriate guidance author technical reports, standard SOPs, and contribute to technical reports and regulatory submissions as required.
• Collaborate as needed with internal partners in other functional areas, external vendors, and external scientific partners and participate in Agile project teams.
• Comply with the company safety policies and minimize risk to self, others, and the environment, consistent with the community and industry standards.
• Prepare and present findings in project teams.
• Collaborate within immunology and cross-functional teams across R&D.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• BS with 2 years of relevant experience in industry or academia, or MS with 1 year of relevant experience in industry or academia.
• Degree should be in Immunology, Virology, Biotechnology or related field
• Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry preferred.

Key Sk ills, Abilities, and Competencies :

• Experience with vaccine development or infectious disease research in BSL2 environment.
• Experience with SARS-CoV2 microneutralization assay and viral titration is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Good Research Practices (GRP) and electronic note booking.
• Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry preferred.
