Entry Level Lab Assistant - $15 hr - 1 year contract - South Austin Texas location

Entry Level Lab Tech Role - Glass ware cleaning and sample processing
Monday Through Friday off Montopolis Boulevard in Austin Texas
Typical hours 8 am - 5p, Monday through Friday but earlier start could be requrested

Lab assistant is an entry-level position that performs a variety of laboratory support duties. The assistant helps chemists and other lab staff by handling glassware, samples, and data entry, as well as providing courier and warehousing services. 
General responsibilities

• Cleaning glassware.
• Processing, receiving, and disposing of samples.
• Performing basic data entry (transcription).
• Maintaining sample storage areas.
• Providing general support to the lab staff.
• Performing courier and warehousing duties, including shipping and receiving.
• Following all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols. 

Key qualifications

• Education:  High school diploma or GED.
• Experience:  Prior laboratory support experience is preferred but not required.
• Skills:  Strong communication, organization, and basic computer skills are necessary. The ability to work in a team and maintain safety awareness is also essential.
• Other:  A valid driver's license is required. 

Work environment and physical demands

• The job is primarily based in a laboratory setting but may require some fieldwork or driving to customer locations.
• The role involves constant standing and walking, as well as frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 150 pounds.
• Exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and lab equipment is common.
• Some work may occur on weekends, holidays, or non-standard hours.
