Engineering Technician - Component and System Test Asset Builds

Objective: Design, build, bring up, and maintain various hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and other test assets essential for component and system validation. These test assets can vary from single ECU setups all the way to full representative vehicle bucks on stilts.
 
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Interpreting and working from engineering schematics and technical documentation.
  • Designing and building custom wire harnesses according to specifications.
  • Fabricating and assembling physical test assets, including benchtop setups, rack-mounted systems, and larger structures like vehicle bucks on stilts.
  • Performing initial bring-up of test assets, including power-up and communication connectivity checks.
  • Executing sanity checks and basic functional verification of built assets.
  • Performing retrofits, modifications, and reworks on existing test assets.
  • Troubleshooting hardware issues during build and operation.
  • Maintaining and repairing test assets as needed.
  • Documenting build procedures, modifications, and troubleshooting steps.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Proficiency in building and modifying wire harnesses (crimping, soldering, routing, etc.).
  • Experience with basic electrical measurements and troubleshooting (multimeter, oscilloscope basics).
  • Familiarity with various connectors and wiring standards relevant to [Mention relevant domain, e.g., automotive, robotics, consumer electronics].
  • Experience with mechanical assembly and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to perform basic communication checks (e.g., CAN, Ethernet, UDS).
  • Previous experience building or maintaining test rigs, HIL systems, or vehicle bucks is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Estimated Min Rate: $40.00
Estimated Max Rate: $60.00
