We are seeking an experienced ECAD/MCAD Symbol Librarian to manage and maintain electrical and mechanical component libraries. This role will ensure accurate integration between ECAD and MCAD design workflows while supporting design for manufacturability, component lifecycle management, and library data integrity.
Scope:
• Develop, maintain, and organize ECAD libraries for Allegro PCB Editor, including schematic symbols and PCB footprints.
• Develop and maintain MCAD libraries for Siemens NX, including accurate 3D component models and metadata.
• Create, validate, and update complex schematic symbols and PCB footprints in accordance with IPC standards and company guidelines.
• Ensure accurate integration between electrical and mechanical designs to minimize errors during design and manufacturing.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to update symbols, footprints, and models based on design and DFM requirements.
• Support compliance with IPC, JEDEC, RoHS, and other applicable industry standards.
• Establish and enforce best practices for library version control, part approvals, change management, and data integrity.
• Ensure ECAD and MCAD libraries remain synchronized, consistent, and current.
• Partner with component suppliers to obtain and validate technical documentation, dimensions, specifications, and lifecycle information.
• Perform detailed quality checks on symbols, footprints, 3D models, and associated metadata.
• Support BOM management and integration with ECAD/MCAD library systems.
• Identify opportunities to automate library management and validation processes.
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience managing ECAD/MCAD libraries and creating electrical and mechanical component data.
• Hands-on experience with Allegro PCB Editor, including schematic symbol and PCB footprint creation.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens NX, including 3D model creation and mechanical component modeling.
• Strong understanding of IPC standards, PCB footprint development, mechanical tolerances, and component modeling requirements.
• Experience supporting design for manufacturability and working directly with manufacturing teams.
• Understanding of component lifecycle management, including part obsolescence, EOL components, and RoHS compliance.
• Experience using version control, PLM, or other systems to manage ECAD/MCAD libraries.
• Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated focus on library accuracy, consistency, and data integrity.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
Pluses:
• Experience with Allegro SKILL, NX Open, or other scripting languages used to automate library management tasks.
• Experience with BOM management systems and ECAD/MCAD data integration.
• Familiarity with JEDEC standards and manufacturing guidelines.
• Experience working with component suppliers and validating manufacturer-provided technical data.
• Experience managing large, complex component libraries in a high-volume engineering environment.
