Director of Solutions Engineering – Regional & Mid-Market Teams

About the Position

Seeking a Director of Solutions Engineering to lead engineering teams that support regional and mid-market customer segments. This role reports to executive leadership and focuses on team development, technical guidance, and building operational structure for a growing presales organization. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a fast-moving environment, enjoys solving complex technical problems, and excels at developing both people and process.

Key Responsibilities

• Team leadership: recruit, mentor, and guide multiple layers of Solutions Engineers, creating an engaged, diverse, and high-performing organization.
• Provide technical oversight on advanced challenges, architecture discussions, and escalations across a platform that blends hardware, software, and cloud services.
• Identify operational gaps, design new programs, and refine workflows to improve consistency and enable scale.
• Partner with sales, product, support, enablement, and marketing teams to streamline communication and improve customer outcomes.
• Invest in career development through coaching, upskilling, and long-term growth planning.
• Travel requirement: approximately 30–40% depending on business needs.

Top Required Skills

• Leadership experience managing presales or solutions engineering teams at a senior level.
• Strong technical background in cloud-connected systems, networking fundamentals, and integrated hardware/software products.
• History of scaling or restructuring technical go-to-market teams, including hiring, mentorship, and process development.
• Ability to work closely with sales and product teams to resolve complex customer challenges.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience supporting distributed or multi-tier engineering teams across multiple regions.
• Background working in security, IoT, building automation, or other mission-critical infrastructure markets.
• Experience building enablement programs or onboarding frameworks for technical teams.



Estimated Min Rate: $240000.00
Estimated Max Rate: $250000.00
