The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with hands-on turbomachinery development experience and has successfully taken aerodynamic designs from concept through testing and validation. This role is best suited for someone who has worked in small, fast-moving engineering teams and is comfortable helping build a turbine program from the ground up through prototype development and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the aerodynamic design and optimization of compressor and turbine stages for advanced gas turbine systems.
- Define flow path architecture, stage loading, blade geometry, and overall aerodynamic performance targets.
- Perform and direct CFD, meanline, and throughflow analyses to improve efficiency, stability, and operating range.
- Collaborate with mechanical, combustion, test, and manufacturing teams to transition designs from concept through prototype validation and production readiness.
- Correlate simulation results with hardware test data and establish aerodynamic development processes for future product platforms.
- Extensive experience in turbomachinery aerodynamic design, including both compressor and turbine stages.
- Strong proficiency with meanline analysis, throughflow methods, and 3D CFD tools such as ANSYS CFX, Numeca/FINE Turbo, Star-CCM+, Fluent, or similar.
- Experience designing gas turbines, microturbines, turboshaft engines, turbochargers, jet engines, APUs, industrial turbines, or related rotating machinery.
- Demonstrated experience validating aerodynamic designs through prototype testing and correlation of simulation results with hardware data.
- Proven ability to operate in small engineering teams and take technical ownership from concept through manufacturing readiness.
- Experience with small gas turbines, microturbines, distributed power systems, or aerospace propulsion programs.
- Prior experience in a startup, skunkworks, or early-stage hardware environment developing products from concept through manufacturing.
- Technical leadership experience guiding multidisciplinary engineering teams and turbine development programs.
Estimated Min Rate: $185,000.00/Annually
Estimated Max Rate: $235,000.00/Annually
