Position Summary:
The Director of Accounting is responsible for leading the organization’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations. This role partners with executive leadership to align financial practices with strategic goals, while driving operational efficiency and maintaining robust internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the organization’s accounting systems and ensure accurate and timely financial recordkeeping in accordance with GAAP and applicable tax laws.
- Lead all core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial close processes.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
- Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance on the appropriate treatment of complex transactions.
- Manage the preparation and delivery of financial statements and reports, including variance analysis and executive summaries.
- Coordinate and oversee external audits and ensure timely completion of regulatory filings.
- Evaluate and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performance team through training, mentorship, and performance management.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in financial operations.
- Uphold ethical standards and demonstrate leadership aligned with the organization’s values.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- CPA certification required.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior accounting leadership role.
- Experience with accounting systems and financial reporting tools; QuickBooks experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial compliance, and regulatory reporting.
- Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Estimated Min Rate: $140000.00
Estimated Max Rate: $160000.00
