Compute Hardware Technician

Required:
• Skilled in assembling and integrating electromechanical systems and cable harnesses.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Hands-on experience with thermal management and cooling systems, including radiators, pumps, chillers, fittings, hoses, and fans.
• Demonstrated ability to take direction and then work independently to complete assigned builds or repairs.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities in a lab or workshop environment.
• 2–3 years of relevant technical experience.

Pluses:
• Familiarity with basic fabrication tools (e.g., torque wrenches, drills, taps, or related shop equipment).
• Comfort working in a Linux environment and executing basic terminal commands.
• Soldering experience for small electrical repairs or modifications.

Scope:
Assembly & Integration:
• Build, disassemble, and modify electronic assemblies and multi-unit prototype rigs.
• Construct and maintain custom rack-mounted systems, including liquid-cooled configurations.
• Perform precise mechanical assembly using hand and power tools while adhering to ESD-safe and PCBA handling practices.
• Apply thermal interface materials and verify proper component alignment and installation.

Cabling & Wiring:
• Fabricate custom harnesses: measure, cut, strip, and terminate wires using the correct crimp tools and connectors.
• Verify signal and power continuity through inspection and testing.

Testing & Validation:
• Prepare hardware for automated or semi-automated test runs.
• Establish data and power connections, operate test GUIs, and execute predefined Linux shell commands.

Documentation & Reporting:
• Log all work performed and parts used through internal tracking tools.
• Follow and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Draft concise work instructions for repetitive or routine assembly tasks.
• Record and escalate any issues clearly, both verbally and in writing.
