Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Rochester, NY. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC milling and lathe equipment to ensure precision, quality, and consistency. This position is ideal for an experienced machinist who takes pride in accuracy, craftsmanship, and working in a quality-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machines and verify machine settings to ensure accurate, in-tolerance machining.
- Monitor machine operation to identify malfunctions or out-of- tolerance conditions using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Set up and operate computerized deburring and tooling equipment to perform machining operations including drilling, chamfering, and deburring.
- Inspect first-article parts and perform in-process inspections throughout production runs to ensure quality compliance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Provide guidance and support to less-experienced machine operators as needed.
- Accurately record time, materials, and production data.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of CNC setup and operation experience.
- Strong working knowledge of CNC mills and CNC lathes, including the ability to manually or programmatically set machine controls.
- Experience with Mazak or Haas machines strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing as part of a team.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Alignment with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System principles.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift materials, and safely operate equipment.
