We are seeking an engineer to support camera image quality (IQ) evaluation, driver development, and characterization for advanced vehicle camera systems. This role will execute laboratory and real-world testing, develop test methodologies, analyze data, and communicate findings to camera engineering stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines camera and optical testing experience with Python-based automation and embedded C/C++ development.
Scope:
• Execute camera image quality, characterization, and performance testing in laboratory and real-world environments.
• Develop, maintain, and operate camera IQ test benches, measurement systems, and supporting equipment.
• Create and improve test software for automated data acquisition, analysis, and visualization using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
• Analyze test data using statistical methods and communicate results, trends, and recommendations.
• Write technical reports documenting characterization results, issues, and recommended actions.
• Develop new test setups and methodologies to expand camera validation capabilities.
• Design, implement, and maintain C/C++ device drivers for automotive CMOS image sensors and video-capture hardware.
• Develop and optimize drivers for multi-gigabit automotive SerDes links, including GMSL2/GMSL3.
• Implement and debug communications across MIPI CSI-2, I2C, Automotive Ethernet, and related interfaces.
• Support camera module bring-up using bench setups, frame grabbers, and diagnostic tools.
• Develop bus-transaction logging utilities, Built-In Self-Test (BIST) routines, and fault-recovery mechanisms.
• Support development practices aligned with automotive functional-safety requirements, including ISO 26262.
Required:
• 2+ years of embedded software development experience using modern C++ and C in Linux or RTOS environments.
• Hands-on experience developing low-level device drivers for image sensors, video-capture hardware, or high-speed peripherals.
• Experience with camera image quality, image sensors, electronics, or imaging systems.
• Experience creating, maintaining, and operating sensitive laboratory measurement setups.
• Proficiency with Python or similar tools for test automation, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Knowledge of CMOS image sensor architecture, basic analog circuits, electronics, and camera system design.
• Experience with imaging lab equipment such as light sources, lux meters, test charts, lenses, optical filters, and opto-mechanical components.
• Understanding of statistical analysis, including variation, uncertainty, and measures of central tendency.
• Strong problem-solving, technical documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision while maintaining a clean and professional lab environment.
Pluses:
• Direct experience with automotive multi-gigabit SerDes architectures, including GMSL2 or GMSL3.
• Experience with Automotive Ethernet, including 100BASE-T1 or 1000BASE-T1.
• Experience with high-throughput network-streaming pipelines.
• Experience developing BIST, diagnostics, logging, or fault-recovery systems.
• Experience applying ISO 26262 or other automotive functional-safety standards.
• Experience with Excel, COM-capable programming environments, or statistical software.
Estimated Min Rate: $50.00
Estimated Max Rate: $80.00/hr +. Depends on work experience.
