CAD Designer - Control Systems

Compensation: $80-115/hou

What You’ll Do

• System Design & Integration – Lead the design of electronic and control systems, from blue-sky concepts to final operation.
  
  
• Project Leadership – Supervise engineers and designers, review vendor deliverables, manage budgets/schedules, and ensure quality standards.
  
  
• Technical Execution – Develop specifications, test plans, and risk analyses; resolve design conflicts; and guide troubleshooting during first article and field testing.
  
  
• Cross-Discipline Collaboration – Translate creative and functional requirements into engineering solutions across mechanical, software, and facility systems.
  
  
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management – Review technical documentation, oversee supplier designs, and negotiate solutions to critical issues.
  
  

What You Bring

• Strong foundation in electronic principles, physics, and mathematics.
  
  
• Experience with controls design and AutoCAD (2D electrical/mechanical design).
  
  
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and assembly drawings, and bring them to life in the field.
  
  
• Knowledge of power, communications, and computer systems theory.
  
  
• Hands-on experience with system integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  
  
• Familiarity with scheduling and estimating methods for engineering projects.
  
  
• Strong communication skills — able to explain technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
  
  

Nice-to-Haves

• PLC programming knowledge.
  
  
• Experience with UL / NEC / ASTM compliance.
  
  
• Background in servo control, imaging/graphics systems, or motor technologies.
  
  
• Prototype design and engineering simulation skills.
  
  
• BOM development and vendor management experience.
  
  

Estimated Min Rate: $80.50
Estimated Max Rate: $115.00
