Biochemistry Research associate
Key role Responsibilities:
Inventory management and Protein Production/Characterization
- Coordinate and manage the reagent and test article inventories for Biochemistry and extended to Virology and Molecular biology group (this task requires 70% time)
- Facilitate the transfer of materials between groups both on-site and internationally.
- Alongside senior technical staff, carry out the experimental design, planning and execution of viral antigen production, characterization and formulation efforts
- Work on protein expression/purification/characterization, including aliquoting and inventory newly purified antigens.
- Analyze the data and record the lab work with Benchling.
- Summarize and present the results in the group.
- Work with others in agile working environment
- As requested, assist customers with the Permits and Shipping activities for domestic and international shipments at Waltham site including but not limited to planning, timeline development, shipment tracking, risk assessment, regulatory practices, policy adherence, etc.
GRP and HSE
- Comply with the company safety policies and HSE to minimize risk to self, others and the environment, consistent with HSE policies, community and industry standards.
- Identify and help to improve best practices in HSE operations.
- Ensure documentation of laboratory experiments are entered in ELSE in a timely manner: analyze and summarize experimental outcomes, record experimental procedures and raw and analyzed data.
- Participate in generating/reviewing SOPs and other required documents.
- Remain compliant with applicable trainings.
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in biological sciences from an accredited University, B.Sc.
- Knowledge and preferably hands-on experience in Protein expression
- Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, interfacing with multiple functions and external partners
- Good organizational and prioritization skills
- Team player on receiving and sharing knowledge/expertise in a cross-functional team
