We are seeking a Data Engineer to maintain and enhance our SQL capabilities while driving the modernization of our data architecture. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on driving change, researching emerging technologies, and implementing innovative solutions — especially in modern data platforms and AI-driven capabilities. You’ll design scalable, best-practice architectures to support BI initiatives and help shape the future of our data environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL-based solutions to support data pipelines and reporting needs.
• Design and implement modern data models (star/snowflake schemas, medallion architecture) and integrate multiple databases into a unified, scalable reporting layer.
• Collaborate with BI analysts to ensure backend structures effectively support Power BI reporting.
• Evaluate and recommend new data platforms, tools, and practices (e.g., Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake) to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Stay ahead of technology trends, embracing emerging tools and approaches to continually modernize our data environment.
• Embed security principles into data architecture from the ground up, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data across systems.
• Ensure compliance with data governance and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) in all engineering efforts.

Experience

• 5+ years as a Data Engineer, SQL Developer, or similar role.
• Agile methodologies
• Advanced SQL expertise (query tuning, stored procedures, optimization).
• Proven experience designing scalable data architecture for analytics and BI.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT pipeline development and data integration.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and modern engineering tools (Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, etc.).
• Familiarity with SDLC best practices and version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development.
• Track record as a change agent in data modernization initiatives.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• (Nice to have) Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation or ETL customization.

Estimated Min Rate: $125,000.00
Estimated Max Rate: $135,000.00
