This role will support research, diagnostics innovation, scientific collaborations, and cross-functional initiatives focused on veterinary parasitology, molecular biology, and next-generation diagnostic development. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in veterinary parasitology combined with modern genomics and molecular diagnostics expertise. This is a long-term remote contract opportunity with strong potential for future full-time conversion.

Duration: Long-term contractor with opportunity to convert to full-time employee
Pay: $75-100/hr DOE
Scientific Focus Areas:
- Companion animal parasitology
- Heartworm biology and vector-borne parasite research
- Parasite lifecycle biology and transmission
- Molecular biology and molecular diagnostics development
- Parasite transcription biology (mRNA, microRNA)
- Anthelmintic resistance and genetic resistance mechanisms
- Intestinal parasites, blood parasites, and ectoparasites
Responsibilities:
- Support molecular diagnostics and innovation initiatives related to veterinary parasitology
- Collaborate with R&D teams and scientific collaborators on hypothesis-driven research and discovery projects
- Contribute scientific expertise to molecular diagnostics development and emerging technologies
- Maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), universities, scientific collaborators, and parasite-focused organizations including CAPC and ESCCAP
- Contribute to scientific publications, manuscripts, abstracts, and scientific communications
- Support scientific and educational initiatives involving AI, molecular analytics, antimicrobial stewardship, and One Health concepts
- Collaborate with marketing, education, and scientific communications teams on scientific content, training materials, and product support initiatives
- Help monitor product performance and support ongoing scientific and operational improvements
- Participate in scientific conferences, presentations, and external education initiatives related to veterinary parasitology and diagnostics
Technical Expertise:
Experience with modern molecular biology and genomics technologies including:
- Sequencing
- Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
- qPCR
- dPCR
- Molecular assay and diagnostics development
Preferred Background & Qualifications:
- Board-certified Veterinary Parasitologist strongly preferred
- DVM/VMD or related veterinary parasitology background preferred
- Strong background in genetics, genomics, molecular biology, or molecular diagnostics
- Academic, university, research, or molecular diagnostics backgrounds highly encouraged
- Scientific publication, manuscript, abstract writing, or conference presentation experience preferred
- Strong scientific communication and collaboration skills required
