Market Data Lead / Head of Market Data Onboarding – Role
Overview
Our Financial Client is seeking a Market Data Lead to centralize and scale the onboarding of external market data into its enterprise data platform. Historically, different business units purchased market data directly from vendors, resulting in fragmented contracts, duplicate spending, and inconsistent data management. The company is now consolidating vendor relationships and requiring all external data to flow through a centralized data platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical onboarding of all externally purchased market data into Apollo's enterprise data platform.
- Design scalable database schemas and data models that can support multiple market data providers and feeds.
- Build and optimize data ingestion pipelines for pricing, security master, index, risk, and other market data.
- Manage and mentor a growing team of data engineers while remaining highly hands-on technically.
- Partner with procurement, analysts, and project managers to prioritize and onboard new data sources.
- Improve onboarding speed and create reusable frameworks that minimize custom development for each new vendor feed.
- Ensure data is legally consumable across the enterprise by aligning with licensing and vendor agreements.
- Help establish market data as a first-class enterprise asset alongside reference and security master data.
- Strong experience with market data architecture and data engineering.
- Deep understanding of:
- Database design and schema modeling
- Data pipelines and ingestion frameworks
- Market data providers and market data structures
- Enterprise data platforms and data distribution
- Experience working with:
- Python
- Java
- Snowflake / Snowshare
- Data pipeline and ETL technologies
- Ability to architect scalable solutions for ingesting and exposing large volumes of market data.
