Overview Seeking a Senior Sales Tax Accountant to support the preparation, filing, and compliance of multi-state sales and use tax returns. This individual will work with large datasets, ensure timely tax filings, assist with property tax and business license compliance, and help maintain tax reporting schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 2–5 years of accounting experience
- Sales & Use Tax Compliance
- Multi-State Tax Filing
- Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Oracle
- Data Analysis
- Tax Research
- Compliance Reporting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills
- Process and format large, multi-entity sales tax datasets to meet state filing requirements
- Prepare and file state and local sales tax returns through applicable state and municipal tax portals
- Research and resolve sales tax notices and inquiries
- Develop and maintain compliance calendars to ensure timely filing of tax returns
- Assist with property tax filings
- Maintain business license schedules and renewal tracking
- Assist in preparing year-end tax schedules and supporting documentation
- Perform high-volume transactional data entry with a high level of accuracy
- Create schedules and assign work to team members as needed
- Support tax reporting processes and departmental initiatives
- Hands-on experience preparing and filing sales tax returns
- Comfortable working with large datasets and transactional information
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive, dependable, and capable of working independently
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems, particularly Oracle
