Principal Enterprise Architect
Join a complex, highly regulated enterprise and help shape the technology strategy, architecture standards, and modernization roadmap across the organization.
This senior leadership role connects enterprise strategy with practical execution across business capabilities, applications, data, integration, cloud, platforms, security, and emerging technologies. You will influence major technology decisions, guide enterprise transformation, and partner with business and technology leaders across a federated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define enterprise architecture principles, standards, target-state designs, and transition roadmaps.
- Lead architecture for strategic initiatives, modernization programs, and enterprise-wide technology decisions.
- Evaluate solutions based on business value, cost, risk, resilience, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
- Drive simplification, platform reuse, legacy modernization, and improved enterprise integration.
- Support architecture governance, review boards, standards councils, and exception management.
- Partner with engineering, cloud, data, AI, security, infrastructure, and business technology leaders.
- Incorporate cybersecurity, privacy, resilience, regulatory, and operational requirements into architecture decisions.
- Mentor architects and senior technology professionals while advancing architecture practices across the enterprise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, domain architecture, or senior technology strategy.
- Broad expertise across applications, integration, data, AI, cloud, security, and platforms.
- Experience leading architecture for large-scale transformation in a complex enterprise.
- Strong background in architecture governance, standards, target-state planning, and strategic decision-making.
- Ability to influence across organizational boundaries without direct authority.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.
- Experience in insurance, financial services, healthcare, or another regulated industry.
- Experience in a federated technology organization.
- Knowledge of cloud modernization, APIs, platform engineering, data ecosystems, and enterprise integration.
- Familiarity with AI, automation, and emerging technologies.
- TOGAF, SAFe, AWS, Azure, GCP, or comparable certifications.
