The Parts Runner / Materials Assistant serves as a critical support role within the Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Service Depot, ensuring the efficient movement of parts, tools, and materials between the stockroom and the service floor. This position works closely with the Supply Chain Materials Coordinator to support technicians, hardware engineers, and fleet operations by delivering the right materials at the right time. Success in this role directly contributes to minimizing vehicle downtime and maintaining efficient service operations.
Scope:
• Pick, stage, and deliver parts, tools, and consumables from inventory to technicians and designated work areas.
• Assist with receiving, inspecting, sorting, and stocking incoming shipments of parts and materials.
• Perform inventory transactions, cycle counts, and stock replenishment using handheld scanners or warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe stockroom, receiving, and staging areas while supporting housekeeping and recycling efforts.
• Process damaged, defective, or excess parts by routing materials to quarantine or Return-to-Vendor (RTV) locations.
• Transport materials throughout the facility or to local vendors using company vehicles or carts, as required.
• Support Materials Coordinators with day-to-day logistics and inventory activities to ensure uninterrupted service operations.
• Follow all company safety procedures and inventory control processes.
Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical work throughout an entire shift.
• Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn warehouse management systems (WMS) and handheld RF scanners.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Pluses:
• Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, inventory, manufacturing, automotive, or service operations.
• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory software, or handheld RF scanners.
• Familiarity with material handling, parts staging, inventory control, or lean warehouse practices.
• Forklift or pallet jack certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
• Experience supporting automotive, fleet, robotics, or autonomous vehicle operations.
