A person in this role is responsible for driving new customer acquisition and incremental profitable growth within an assigned geographic market, with particular emphasis on high-density metropolitan markets and areas with significant untapped commercial opportunities.
The Market Business Development Manager is a hunter-focused outside sales position primarily accountable for identifying, prospecting, developing, and closing new B2B customers. This person builds a qualified pipeline through a combination of company-provided leads, self-generated prospecting, referrals, market intelligence, field activity, and collaboration with Territory Sales Managers (TSMs), branch teams, and Regional Sales leadership.
The Business Development Manager owns new opportunities from initial prospect identification through qualification, solution development, pricing, close, customer setup, initial activation, and successful transition to the assigned Territory Sales Manager for ongoing account management.
Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive B2B outside sales, business development, territory development, or new-account acquisition experience preferred.
- Experience within automotive aftermarket, heavy duty, commercial fleet, industrial, battery, parts distribution, or related B2B channels.
- Demonstrated success prospecting and acquiring new commercial customers in a competitive B2B environment.
- Proven ability to develop business through self-generated leads in addition to company-provided opportunities.
- Experience managing a sales process from prospecting and discovery through proposal, negotiation, close, and customer activation.
- Experience selling products or services where pricing, margin, inventory availability, logistics, and service capabilities influence the customer buying decision.
- Experience working collaboratively with territory sales, branch operations, customer service, pricing, and other cross-functional partners.
- Experience using CRM platforms to manage prospecting activity, opportunities, pipeline, forecasting, and customer information.
