Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Endpoint Engineer to support a critical security and technology remediation initiative focused on identifying, troubleshooting, and remediating outdated Java applications across a large Windows device environment.
This role will support the remediation of approximately 1,600 devices that require updates to Java applications, including outdated Java Runtime Environments (JREs) and Java Development Kits (JDKs), with the goal of completing the initiative by the end of 2026.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in SCCM/MECM, Microsoft Intune, PowerShell, and Windows endpoint management. This is an engineering-focused position rather than a traditional Tier 1/Tier 2 desktop support role. Candidates should be comfortable troubleshooting endpoint policies, agents, scripts, and configurations to determine why devices are not receiving or successfully applying required patches.
Key Responsibilities
- Support a large-scale Java remediation and endpoint security initiative across approximately 1,600 Windows devices.
- Identify and remediate outdated Java applications, including JREs and JDKs.
- Troubleshoot endpoint issues preventing devices from receiving or successfully applying required patches.
- Work within a co-managed endpoint environment utilizing both Microsoft Intune and SCCM/MECM.
- Troubleshoot SCCM/MECM and Intune agents, policies, configurations, and deployment issues.
- Validate that devices are properly receiving and applying required policies and software updates.
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PowerShell scripts used for remediation and endpoint management.
- Analyze basic reports and endpoint data to identify devices requiring remediation.
- Troubleshoot Windows endpoint configuration issues, including environment variables and application-related settings.
- Work directly with end users when necessary to resolve issues resulting from Java updates or endpoint changes.
- Assist with troubleshooting elevation and administrative access requirements, including familiarity with LAPS.
- Document remediation activities, troubleshooting steps, and recurring issues.
- Collaborate closely with endpoint engineering, infrastructure, security, and other technical teams.
- Support additional endpoint remediation and security initiatives as business needs evolve.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in endpoint management, systems administration, desktop engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Hands-on experience with SCCM/MECM in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune or another cloud-based endpoint/mobile device management platform.
- Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems and endpoint configurations.
- Experience troubleshooting software deployment, patching, policies, agents, or endpoint management issues.
- Ability to analyze technical data and reports to identify and resolve endpoint issues.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a technical engineering team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with end users when technical issues require assistance.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a co-managed SCCM/MECM and Intune environment.
- Experience with Java remediation, JRE/JDK updates, or Java application troubleshooting.
- Experience with ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus or similar enterprise patch-management tools.
- Experience with Microsoft LAPS or other privileged-access/elevation technologies.
- Experience with Windows endpoint security or remediation initiatives.
- Experience with enterprise mobility/device management (MDM).
- Experience with scripting or automation beyond basic PowerShell.
- Prior experience supporting large-scale security or technology remediation projects.
- Junior-level systems engineering or endpoint engineering experience.
Estimated Min Rate: $35.00
