Schedule: 9/80 (once trained for 2 weeks in the office. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are in the office afterwards)
Either 7:30am to 4:30pm or 8am to 5pm Role Overview The Accounts Receivable Specialist – Government Collections is responsible for managing AR collections within the federal government sector. While this is an accounts receivable role, it is more complex than traditional collections due to limited direct customer communication and a heavy reliance on government vendor portals.
This role focuses on submitting invoices for payment, resolving disputes, and processing claims through various government portals. The specialist will work closely with internal cross-functional teams — including Sales Management, Pricing, Contracts, Posting, and Order Entry — to research and resolve issues that delay or prevent payment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts receivable collections for federal government customers
- Submit invoices and supporting documentation through government vendor portals
- Monitor payment status and proactively resolve discrepancies or disputes
- Investigate delayed or denied payments and drive resolution to completion
- Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot contract, pricing, and order issues
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with government requirements
- Manage a high-dollar, high-volume AR portfolio
- Prior experience with government collections strongly preferred
- Proven success managing a high-dollar, high-volume AR portfolio(several million dollars or more)
- Experience working with vendor portals
for invoicing and payment collection
- Comfortable collecting payment without direct customer interaction
- Strong multitasking abilities and organizational skills
- Highly developed research and analytical skills
- Effective collaborator who works well with cross-functional internal teams
- Solution-oriented problem solver with a creative, detail-focused mindset
- Able to identify non-obvious or alternative solutions
- Backgrounds in contract review, insurance claims, medical billing, or similar fields translate well to this role
- Experience with SAP or a comparable ERP system is a plus
- Training: First two weeks conducted onsite, full-time in office
