Job Functions
- Support the Health Physics group to the manufacturing and support organizations for all radiation safety and other EHS related issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of radiation safety programs and practices for compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as radiation safety technical advisor to product development and associated projects.
- Develop technical basis documents for regulatory compliance, program recommendations, or changes in practice.
- Assist with the implementation, maintenance and oversight of the Radiation Protection Program. This includes, but is not limited to, program management, metric development and tracking, and proactive corrective actions.
- Develop, implement and manage dose and contamination reduction initiatives.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Emergency Response Plans.
- Develop and maintain oversight of Radiation Work Permits.
- Provide periodic reports and documentation materials for review by the Radiation Safety Committee and site management as necessary.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, etc.) or Engineering with three years of professional experience is required. Master of Science degree in physical sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, etc.) or engineering preferred.
- Certified Health Physicist (CHP) accreditation by the American Board of Health Physics is preferred.
- Must possess technical background and knowledge of applicable radiation safety regulations (e.g., NRC, DOE, EPA, DOT).
- Experience and expertise in use of software systems used for dose assessment (e.g., CAP88, RASCAL, VARSKIN, IMBA) and radiation modeling and shielding (e.g., MicroShield, MCNP) are highly desirable.
