The EE Component Systems Engineer / Function Owner owns the end-to-end technical delivery of eCall (emergency call systems required in many international markets), Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS), and other EE components. This role defines what to develop or source, manages Tier 1 and OEM technical relationships, and ensures the ECU and associated software meet all functional, performance, quality, regulatory, and launch requirements. • Manage change requests and impact assessments throughout development.
Supplier & Program Execution
• Lead technical engagement with Tier 1 suppliers and OEM partners.
• Drive deliverables to meet program milestones (Alpha, Beta, SOP).
• Conduct technical reviews and ensure proper implementation of required functions.
• Track and resolve supplier issues to maintain schedule and quality targets.
Integration, Validation & Launch
• Coordinate system-level integration within the vehicle platform.
• Develop and oversee execution of validation and reliability test plans.
• Lead homologation activities to meet global regulatory requirements (e.g., UNR144, EU 2015/758 for eCall).
• Support production launch and post-launch monitoring.
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in an automotive OEM or Tier 1 environment as a DRE, Function Owner, or Systems Engineer.
• Experience managing the full lifecycle of an automotive ECU or complex software function from requirements to launch.
• Strong project management skills with ability to drive cross-functional and external partners to deadlines.
• Experience with requirements management tools (Jama, DOORS, Jira).
• Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
Pluses:
• Experience with telematics, 4G/5G wireless systems, or in-cabin sensing (DMS).
• Familiarity with global automotive homologation and regulatory processes (eCall certification, Euro NCAP).
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 and ASPICE.
• Understanding of CAN, CAN-FD, Ethernet, and automotive diagnostics.
